An Ode For A Beloved

As I lay awake,
throughout the night,
my mind's been busy,
with thoughts alight.

The ceiling stares at me,
the cool air stays still,
something's been,
bugging me a great deal.

As I search my mind now,
for some hints,
pondering deeply,
using up all means.

And then a memory,
flashed by my eyes,
reminding me of a moment,
which made me cry.

I can see my grandpa,
hugging me real close,
it was a kind of feeling,
I missed the most.

He cared for me deeply,
I felt the same way too,
I was small abck then,
what could I ever do?

Before I could show,
my love for my grandpappy,
he had already left this world,
he left too early.

Cancer got the better of him,
sadly he succumbed,
my heart was frozen,
it just went numb.

And as I slowly stared into space,
wishing for me to see his face,
its just way too late,
its been 10years since he was dead.

I fought my tears back,
and searched for a new start,
he's never been dead,
he has always been in my heart.

I laid to rest right there and then,
finally I whispered these words
to my grandpa... my best friend.

I love you and you will not be forgotten,
you will always be in my prayers and such,
and it must be true,
that God loves you just too much.

I've never felt so loved..

Medieval Tomfoolery

The creaking of the four wheels,
as its rolling fast,
keeping to the rhythm,
as its heading west.

To the land up the hill,
with towers at every corner,
ruled by Kings and Earls,
long live the Royal Charter.

Bow to nobility,
curtsey if you must,
count your silver pennies,
there's no one you can trust.

When women get too involved,
run for the hills I say!
hypocrisy is in the air,
you will be charged for heresy.

Where is the evidence?
on what grounds you may ask?
monks will speak of the devil's mark,
defending will be no easy task.

Its all about the taxes,
who can argue with the King?
he lays down the rules,
he determines if you float or sink.

Marriages no longer hold meaning,
for no two lovers are to be united,
this is done all in the sake of prosperity,
there's no room for the two who are fated.

A farthling, a shilling,
a penny or two,

the pound ever in demand,
poverty is ever so true.

The rich just keeps getting richer,
the poor just lay down and die,

do you notice something similar?
just like the modern world of you and I.

Politics

A little child is quietly watching the Tv,
he was watching so intently,
that he even forgot to pee.
Then Daddy gave a loud out grunt,“
You’re a man now…
You have to watch this son”

He flips over the channel,
to a presidential debate,
it was a battle of words,
between two prime candidates,
one another giving false pretense,
Daddy said this is where it all begins.

"Can I be your president?
will you vote for me?
I’ll right the wrongs,
and make this nation strong,
vote for me….
and it wont be long."

Then the child quizzed his Daddy,
if the man would ever mean his words,
Daddy said he’s just there to give T-shirts,
if somebody did something,
it could obviously be seen.

Just look at W,
what has he done?
he went to war with troops,
with loads of guns.

What happened to the Weapons of Mass?
Destruction is what they caused at last.
Nothing seems to make sense at all,
even Michael Moore seems to protest.

Then Daddy snorted,
“What ever happened to the Greats?
From Roosevelt to JFK,
How long must we wait?
Is it fated that all the good,
would die from a bullet of a gun..”

Now life goes on and we live on,
will things ever change from now on?
Will those promises ever be fulfilled,
hoping those words would be signed and sealed.

The Child then asked what leaders are out there?
And then came a reply with some expletives I swear,
he had lots to say.. he gave a piece of his mind.
he said something along these lines:

“If you travelled back in the day,
you would want to get Julius Caesar,
now that was a man,
you would want to call a leader.
He would literally beat the rest,
he was strong..
he was up to the test.”

“Another leader that you would want to follow,
he’s strong, he’s clever and a no-nonsense fellow,
You would think he’s some Bollywood actor,
his name is Genghis Khan you should have known better.”

“These fine men of great stature,
they’ll wipe the floor with today’s candidates,
for sure, they’ll send them all back clear,
staright back to yesteryear..”

“In all my life I see great men come and go,
the one’s that can lead are often assassinated though,
the wrong are killed and who has suffered,
We all know…”

“For people like Marthin Luther King,
he had a dream it was happening,
out of nowhere came a shot,
before Ben Branch could even sing….”

“Then we have a man who was to be called X,
it was to represent the suffering of the Blacks,
then he go a little too strong for one organization,
he was shot then came the sudden realization…”

“What is wrong with this whole world?
what can be done to make it sane?
Now what’s the point of choosing sides,
I’ll lose the game, it’s the same anyway.”

Then he gave a frustrated sigh,
“People got too many alibis,
we just live with the flow,
And just hope everything’s okay.”

The Child then says out loud,
“I’ll make things right I’m sure,
I’ll seal the cracks and make it strong,
I’ll show you Dad it won’t be long.”

“Then Daddy looked at him with teary eyes,
politics is going to be in a big mess,
when giving out speeches
don’t forget to wear your Kevlar vest.”
