A Xmas Wish

It is the 25th of the month,
everyone knows the routine,
I’m waiting in line,
for Santa ever so keen.

I eagerly stood by,
as there are hundreds ahead,
impatience building within me,
with every minute’s wait.

Alas after the 1010th patron,
it is finally my turn,
I sat on Santa’s lap,
grabbing his attention.

I looked right into the bearded figure,
with puppy-dog eyes displayed,
saying in my oh-so-sad voice,
hoping not to be dismayed.

“All I want for this festive cheer,
is something different from the others,
it is intangible as you can’t see it,
without your help our lives are for worse.”

“In this time of giving,
will you hear my pleas,
whip out something from your bag,
make it all better pretty please.”

“Will you please remove the bears,
which haunts my dreams every night,
making me so cold and scared,
even when the Sun is in sight.”

“May my broken home,
be rebuilt right away,
may its citizens be proper,
may everything be okay.”

“Please oh please,
fix my flawed piggybank,
let its system be intricate,
secure it with an anchor and a shank.”

“This is my last wish for the day,
please keep the monsters away from my bed,
please keep that evil Bernard Madoff away,
I am ever so afraid…”

As I thank Mr. Clause,
and hugged him tight,
may this not be the last time,
that I will see him tonight.

Deep within my heart,
I whisper one silent wish..

“Santa oh Santa,
will you hear my cries?
Santa oh Santa,
oh so kind and nice,
Santa oh Santa,
Please fly by my place,
Santa oh Santa,
Milk and cookies shall be the case.
Santa oh Santa,
I know I’m on your Good list,
Santa oh Santa,
Please eradicate this financial crisis.”
